I know a guy who drank 12 beers to a case a day, everyday.
He hasn’t had a driver’s license in 20 yrs due to DUIs and will pretty much need people to chaufer him around for the rest if his life, take the bus or taxi.
He is close to 40 and living with his mom, because he can’t hold a job and when he does make money, he spends it all on alcohol instead of giving money to his ex for child support.
He has also been hospitized a few times for alcohol poisoning and came close to dying ending up unconsious on people’s front lawns walking home from the bar.
Where does a drinking habit like 12 beers a day earn anyone a trophy other than getting a reward for not being dead or in prison?
Tell Steve he needs rehab.

Sounds like your buddy has a drinking problem – 12 beers everyday is not normal – he also has a great chance of developing alot of health problems as well – good luck

I hate to burst your bubble but you cannot as a friend check a friend into rehab. That is something that even family has problems doing. Courts can do it if he gets in criminal trouble due to his drinking.
I do believe he has a problem drinking that much. He may needs detoxing and may not. I drank 12 to 15 a day for about 5 years but I had no problem quitting at all. I did not go through the DT’s and did not need detoxing, but many people do.
He will have to make that decison himself. the people who are forced into rehab against their will usually go right back to drinking as soon as they are released.
