Would one strong drink be considered binge drinking?

Question by ~Miss Dior~: Would one strong drink be considered binge drinking?
Ok, on some weekends I like to unwind and I have a drink. It is usually a mixed drink with rum. I use a good bit of rum, but not too much. It is not overwelming, but I feel it after the drink. It is never bad enough to pass out or anything. Would that be considered binge drinking?

Binge drinking is drinking to excess. Not being able to stand up, vomiting, passing out. One strong drink isn’t binge drinking.

Most dictionary definitions use words like “excessive” – “unrestrained” – “immoderate” or “uncontrolled” when describing “Binge” – one drink, no matter how strong, could hardly be considered binge drinking.

I have a friend who is a binge drinker and one drink does not constitute binge drinking at all. A binge drinker is someone who will drink alcohol for sometimes days or weeks straight without eating food most of the time. After the binge is over they are usually really sick and they sleep it off for a while, go about their normal routine. Then on a whim they start the process again. Sometimes you wont hear from binge drinkers for weeks or months at a time because of this problem.
